Press, research and corrections

This is not a press office and there is nothing here to announce. It is the page that answers the only question worth asking about a measurement source — whether they will tell you something true that costs them something.

Last checked against the site: 2026-09-14

The standing offer

If you are writing about execution quality, broker feed behaviour, backtest integrity, or how an autonomous agent can fabricate its own results, I will go on the record. No embargo games, no approval rights over your copy, no requirement that you run a quote.

And I will tell you when a number does not support your story. That includes my own numbers. A source who has never once talked you out of an angle is not a source, they are a supplier.

The questions you were going to ask, answered

Will you name brokers?
Yes. The Observatory names the venues it measures. A measurement that will not say what it measured is not a measurement.
Will you rank them, or score them?
No. Never. A ranking compresses several unrelated behaviours into one number and then hides the compression, and the ordering it produces is an artefact of whichever weights I happened to choose. I publish the measurements separately so you can weigh them yourself.
Will you say a broker did it deliberately?
No, and I will say so in print. Intent is not measurable from the client side. I can tell you what the quote stream did. I cannot tell you what anyone meant by it, and any source offering you that from this kind of data is guessing.
Will you comment on a broker you have not measured?
No.
Do you take money from brokers?
No — no affiliate revenue, no referral fees, no sponsored placement, no advertising. The measurements are the product, and a venue that pays me is a venue I cannot credibly measure.

Corrections, including the ones that help me

If a published figure here is wrong, I correct it at source, say what it was, and say what changed it. Corrections are applied in place rather than prepended, because a correction stacked on top of a superseded claim leaves the wrong version still readable as current.

The commitment that costs something: I will publicly correct a misstatement of my measurements even when the misstatement flatters Hadal. If someone reports that I measured something stronger, cleaner or more damning than I did, that gets corrected with exactly the same prominence as an error that embarrasses me. A corrections policy that only fires in one direction is a complaints process.

If you think a number on this site is wrong, say so. If you are right it gets fixed, and the fix is logged where anyone can read it.

What I will not do for a story

  • No framing that implies a ranking, including "worst", "best" and "league table".
  • No comment on a venue I have not measured.
  • Nothing off the record about intent — not on background, not anonymously, not as colour.
  • No performance claims, no returns, no track record, because none is published.
  • No exclusive that requires me to withhold a method from everyone else.

What is measurable now, and what is not

Stated as of 2026-09-14. Both lists stay on the page, because a press page that lists only what exists is the marketing version.

Published, with method

  • Thirty-seven research notes, each carrying its method, its limits and a citation block.
  • Eight measurements published with their artifacts, each downloadable from the research note that cites it, with its SHA256 digest printed beside the download.
  • Two measured null results on high-demand claims in retail trading — whether order blocks predict anything, and whether the specific move called stop hunting occurs above chance.
  • A kill ledger of hypotheses that died, published against a fixed denominator.

NOT YET PUBLISHED

  • Broker portraits. The Observatory scaffolds carry no measurements, and are not indexed until they do.
  • Any performance figure of any kind, for any instrument.

Inbound-link policy

Hadal does not buy links, exchange links, guest post, or accept paid placement, and never has. This is published because the most obvious attack on a company that sells measurement honesty is to ask who paid for its links.

If you find a link you believe was placed on Hadal's behalf, report it through the route below. The report and its outcome are published either way, including when the answer is that it was mine.
